TREK provides technical assistance to the Managing Authority of CIP Interreg IIIC South for the closure of the programme
INTERREG IIIC 2000-2006 is an EU-funded programme that helps Europe's regions form partnerships to work together on common projects. By sharing knowledge and experience, these partnerships enable the regions involved to develop new solutions to economic, social and environmental challenges. To simplify programme management, the territory of the EU is divided into four programme zones (North, East, South and West). The CIP Interreg IIIC - South Zone represents the biggest part of Interreg IIIC in financial terms but also in terms of approved operations. In particular, co-financing from ERDF reached the amount of 138 M euro (almost 45% of the whole Interreg IIIC), while the approved operations counted 85 (31% of the whole Interreg IIIC). The Managing Authority (MA) of CIP Interreg IIIC South is the Regional Government of Valencia (Spain).

TREK to design plan for Business Park / Incubator in Central Greece
TREK has been awarded the design of a feasibility and viability study dealing with the creation of a Business Park / Incubator within the geographical limits of Central Greece (Region of Sterea Ellada). Among other topics of the study is the examination of alternative locations for the establishment of the Park, as well as the detailed components comprising the associated feasibility and viability plan. Beneficiaries of the project are the business community of the region and relative business support structures of entrepreneurship and innovation. The 100.000 euro project expects to boost local economy and embrace mobility of entrepreneurship in the region.

Revenues up to 7.050.000 euro (previous year at 6.248.000 euros) and profits (EBIDTA) at 1.055.000 euro. Technical Assistance to 54 Hellenic Prefectures for "e-Urban Planning"

Municipal Authority of karditsa, Central Greece, posseses the cultural heritage of the Municipal Folklore Museum "L. & N Sakellariou" of Karditsa. It is among the most prestigious folklore Museums in Greece, with its main collection focusing on traditional uniforms, jewels, household articles, manuscripts, and works of art donated by famous local artists such as the paintings of D. Gioldasis. TREK was awarded the full scale digitization and documentation of hundreds of collection items (paintings, household articles, jewels, books, manuscripts, etc.) along with the creation of the museum's portal. Project is budgeted at 100.000 euros, with 6 months duration.

The 2007-2013 cross border Greece-Bulgaria Strategic Plan appointed to TREK
Within the forthcoming 2007-2013 period, TREK appointed by the CIP INTERREG the design of the Strategic Plan for cross border/common area intiative between Greece and Bulgaria. The program consists of situation analysis, common area SWOT, risk assesment and evaluation, as well as definition of areas of intervention, geographical coverage, budget allocation, cash flow analysis and required operational structures for program realization. Characteristic of this new "cross border" cooperation is the fact that common interest initiatives are to be performed as if it were a unified and single Region of intervention. It is expected that Southern Bulgaria and Macedonia & Thrace will benefit from this initiative, both on the Public interest and the Private SME & Innovation side. Submission of the Plan for approval by the Commission is expected early summer this year. Project sponsors are the Ministry of Economy (GR), the Ministry of Regional Development (BG) and the DG Regio (E.C).

Design and Technical Assitance for the development of Schengen VISA Information System
The 1985 Schengen Agreement is an agreement among European states which allows for the abolition of systematic border controls between the participating countries. It also includes provisions on common policy on the temporary entry of persons (including the Schengen Visa), the harmonisation of external border controls and cross-border police co-operation. "Schengen countries", are obliged to cope with Pan-European standards concerning VISA issue and relative management procedures. The new system will allow deployment and facilitation of common procedures across Europe, more flexibility and interoperability among Schengen terittories. To this purpose TREK awarded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Greece the design and monitor of implementation of the new VISA Information System, according to Pan-european standards and interoperability. Within the 20 month project scope is the design of the IS system, Telecommunications and Infrastructure identification for purchase and production of functional as well as Technical specs. Project foresees also assesment study on security issues, roll-out to 120 Consulates across the globe, Publicity and awareness actions, as well as Technical asssistance for the smooth project implementation. Budget is 665.000 euros.

The Government of Bosnia & Herzegovina assigns its National Employment Policy to TREK
As of February 2007, TREK has been assigned the work to design and implement Bosnia's National Employment Policy reform. The 1,1 million euro project foresees the development of employment policy tools at National level and Strategic formulation of specific action plan for the reduction of unemployment rate. It is estimated that Bosnia has an average 30% unemployment rate, with 25% of the population below the poverty line. Project goal is to reduce at substantial volume those indices.

TREK to design and co-ordinate a 26Meuro Global Grant initiative for Regional Competitiviness
In June 2006 TREK proposed to a number of Local and Governmental Authorities a Regional Development Plan for the Thessaloniki greater area, under the Global Grant Intitiative funded by the E.C. and the Hellenic Government. The 26M euro plan is the creation of a "Network for International Cometitiviness in Thessaloniki" exclusively to the Markets of U.S., Western Europe and the Far East developed economies. On Jan the 31st the Strategic and Operational plan submitted for approval. State Museum of Contemporary Arts is among the most prestigious modern Art museums in Europe, with its main collection focusing on avant-garde and post modern art. The collection is representative of all the trends and tendencies of the Russian avant-garde community, namely, Kazimir Malevich, Vasilii Kandinsky, Liubov Popova, Vladimir Tatlin, Aleksandr Rodchenko, Ivan Kliun, Solomon Nikritin, Olga Rozanova, Varvara Stepanova, Nadezhda Udaltzova, Mikhail Matiushin, Gustav Klutsis. Urban restructuring of the Municipality of Karditsa
The Municipality of Karditsa is restructuring and modernizing its commercial centre. A new urban planning scheme, reconstruction work in the surrounding areas and an architectural plan will be carried out.
